It expands on several optical workshops I developed with a theater and arts program for adults with varied needs and abilities. We began by experimenting with optical instruments including prisms, reflective mylar, and magnifiers, leading to many ‘aha moments’, a small fire (the power of reflected light),  and heartfelt conversations about how we see or don’t see, and how human perception varies for each of us. When we took our investigation outside, the ‘magic hour’ was waiting. The sun was low, the light warm, and what happened next is hard to describe. Our study evolved into a wild optical romp driven by light, fresh air, curiosity, movement, and invention. These photographic compositions attempt to relay this experience.
